I have two different books that come to mind when I think favorite books. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, (unabridged) and on the lighter reading side of things, I like Raven Ring as an all-time favorite, but the book I probably think of the most often is Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. I don't always think of more than the first line, "I've seen Steelheart bleed." That's a line that tends to stick with a person.

My all-time favorite is Stranger in a Strange Land by RAH. Love all the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. Also fond of Orson Scott Card (his books, not his philosophical views), Isaac Asimov, Michael Chrichton, Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, JRR Tolkein, and (some) Stephen King.
Starting on a new author named Allen Steele. Some of his writing reads like early Heinlein.
